Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS), provides an intense muscular workout, complementing conventional training methods suitable for general fitness enthusiasts and professional athletes alike. EMS has also been used in rehabilitation for re-educating muscle activity, restoring strength following injury and surgery.
The Gym Company are leaders in providing the best quality range of professional EMS Systems for both home and professional use.
Why EMS is so effective
- EMS is the single most intense strength building method and has the briefest improvement period of all training modalities.
- EMS is able to increase the impact and velocity of a typical workout.
- EMS is able to stimulate and fire all the motor neurons in the treated area which means that your body is able to exercise areas at would not normally be reached with a standard workout.
- Benefits are achievable within as little as ten treatments.
- EMS systems are particularly effective in helping to break through barriers. For example, if your upper body is weaker compared to your legs, you could use EMS to maintain your legs for a few weeks while focusing on your upper body training.
- Modern EMS Systems are easy to use and come with a very large number and range of programs to suit all levels and abilities.
How it Works
- EMS has been used for sport training since the early 1950s, but Western countries only became aware of its use in 1973 through Dr. Y. Kots of the Central Institute of Physical Culture in the former USSR. He outlined the tremendous potential for strength enhancement beyond that which was possible by traditional training methods.
- EMS works directly on the muscles, bypassing the body's energy conservation system, thus there is no limit to the percentage of fibre that can be activated. The EMS stimulus allows the user or athlete to experience a training stimulus that is usually unattainable by any other means.
- EMS can also play a role in the rehab of a variety of injuries and is used extensively in clinics around the world.
